Barbara’s Bio

I have always loved art and color.  At the University of Cincinnati, I was taught that design was the most important element of a painting.  With a degree in design and 5 years of formal art training, I landed a job at Yale’s Peabody Museum. I produced artwork for Docents to teach children, in the New Haven Schools, about everything from Dinosaurs to animal architecture. It was a job that I loved.

I married my college beau who worked for an architect in New Canaan, CT. I joined him as an Interior Designer and model builder. We bought a house and filled it with two beautiful daughters. Painting took a backseat for a few years. While I was in high school and college, I had painted portraits, so I picked up my portrait work again for friends and clients.

In 2004 my husband and I built a house on the coast of Maine and as we know Maine is truly an artist’s dream. Now I have transferred painting portraits of people to painting landscape portraits of Maine. I especially love the beauty of Acadia National Park. From August 2021 to October 2022, I exhibited my work at the Cornerstone Gallery in Southwest Harbor, Maine where they sold over $40,000 of my work.

My husband and I love creating art in our beautiful seaside studio. He has just completed an art book of the historical architecture of Bath, ME and I have just completed my latest painting of Monument Cove, Acadia National Park.
